NOT the Babylon Bee published an amusing list of comments by centrists and liberals about their road to Damascus moment when they woke up to wokeness. All of which was kicked off by this lady:
My awakening actually started a while back when I had a bee under my bonnet about Boomers and house prices, basically arguing that mass migration was ONE of the factors playing into unaffordable housing in Australia and then being called a racist because of it.
Interesting to observe other economists and Twitterati, like Philip Soos, have their own journey start by the same sort of Wokester’s calling him racist for opposing mass migration too:
What was YOUR woke breaking point?
when i first learned about behaviour ganetics and saw the data on it. my big moment was learning that it has been known for the last 40-50 years that the way your parents raise you outside of extreme circumstances of abuse and deprivation has little to no influence on how you turn out as an adult. steve sailer called this discovery ‘the explosion without a bang’, a massive gamechanger in how we should observe the etiology of human behaviour that changed nothing, because everybody ignored it. every piece of the puzzle slotted in from there.
Yup – I was always interested in that stuff, so I’d always known about the racial IQ gap and the population group differences in terms of behaviors like the FBI statistics, these differences to me were the least controversial yet surprise so many people today as they’ve been systematically removed from the conversation. As to why these differences existed I always thought it was probably 50/50 environment to genes, but as knowledge in this area has expanded rapidly I’ve come to view genes as virtually 100% of the residual difference between Europeans and Africans in the West, and probably 50/50 when comparing life outcomes between Europeans and Africans in Africa.
In a way the presumption that 100% of the residual differences in life outcomes between population groups living in the West, is due to inherent or ‘structural racism’ being the cause was simply preposterous. Especially when you consider we live in the most fairest, meritorious and least racist societies to have ever existed anywhere at any time on earth, where the slightest hint of over racism of any sort can lead to social ostracizing and crippling real life impacts.
The implicit ‘Original Sin’ that condemns my society and my people as being inherently racist and the cause for these differences in life outcome, was actually one of the other things that further tipped me over in my own movement away from the msm ‘center’.
For me it was more of a gradual reaching of boiling point since the GFC. Watching my working class friends suffer and giving up any hope of owning a home or raising a family. Whilst my wealthier friends seemingly fit into one of two political categories:
1) Conservative belief that everyone has the same chance in life and anyone suffering is all their own doing
2) Progressive belief that immigrants are suffering more than locals who should check their privilege
My dislike of people runs well beyond the sanctimonious wokester.
Yup, asking myself two questions in that regard really ended up leading me down some very dark rabbit holes:
i) “Why does a country that previously had affordable housing, is bountifully resourced and no shortage of land, end up with some of the most unaffordable housing in the world”, and
After that question as I investigated the sources and facilitators of the mass migration the following question arose
ii) “What society or nation wakes up one day and says to itself:
‘Let’s invite a multitude of different people and cultures to come into the society that we have built to perpetuate ourselves and our children, so they can use our resources in order to compete against us and project their own values forward, often in conflict of our own“?
Said no society in control of its own destiny and social narrative, EVER.
No single model or explanation best explains it other than the one I have settled on, with Australia no longer being ruled and governed by elites who have any interest or cultural affiliation with the people over which they rule. Something I have elaborated on many, many times.
Or skills shortages, or bringing people here versus more bang for buck helping them where they are, or aging immigrants providing for our pensions, or old immigrants reducing our average age, or expanding the tax base, or any of the other BS reasons we bring 400k immigrants a year.
It is one big elites scam on unfortunate Australians.
They call my transition blackface and give me all kinds of looks at my liberal use of the nword
Crackers, mirite?
Calling totes be woke!
Yes?
Let Byron be bygone
Byron is rubbish since the celebrities came to town. Can’t stand that wanker Hemsworth. Always seeking attention, flexing and posing. What about his faux deep voice? FO.
Contrast with Brad Pitt. A humble cool guy.
Hemsworth, despite being handsome, muscled and talented is a try-hard dick.
His wife has said “our kids have seen Chris be the hero, now it’s mums turn”….
Haha. It’s make believe, you know, not real. You’re fucking actors. Not heroes.
I don’t really watch any of that shit and wouldn’t recognize them standing next to me
I read dailymail.co.uk now because I try not to read Fairfax any more, and DM is unfortunately filled with this rubbish.
Oh I was interested in your post/reply to Stewies headline, as your username suggests a goodie 🙂
Peoples of the Unsocialist Alliance! I bring you fresh from the pages of the *other* place more injury and ignomy!
I had the following comment hosed and subsequent tagged for review
“what’s in a gram? A letter
What’s in a graph? A thousand words
What’s in a word? More than a just a letter and less than the whole picture
What’s in a bank? None of the above”
For crying out loud

This is quite cryptic Mig. You are some sort of crypto-master 😉
Fvck Macro afterbooze let’s do tactical all the time!
Cable is short the doctor, Elon to the refuse….
This is an easy one.
Every once in a while I do some work for a legal aid type organisation (typically associated with the left). There’d never previously been any issues around payment, but there was an occasion a few years ago when they refused to pay me or even return calls to explain themselves. When they did finally reply, it was basically along the lines of our reason “we won’t pay you is because we won’t pay you.” Made a further complaint which was ignored, and contacted the the ombudsman who were essentially useless, telling me I should get a lawyer.
Now the cost of the work was minuscule relative to my earnings and I can writeoff the loss. But in the grand scheme of things, they’ve burnt all their goodwill for my entire professional lifetime and I’ve told all my colleagues to be aware. I’m looking forward to a future request where I can invoice them something ridiculous for the unpaid fee and tell them where to to go shove it.
Graftis
I assume you mean gratis, but that doesn’t apply here either. The most grating thing about the whole experience was that they refused to follow their own published fee schedule. I don’t mind insurance companies or other for-profits trying to screw me over – that’s a game I expect to play. But when it’s the supposed defenders of the little guy – well, I now won’t bat an eyelid when they cry poor and demand more funding.
No i meant grifting for gratis. That’s what they do when welch on de minimas obligations
Gouda is a straight-laced guy. Doesn’t go in for literary flourishes and neologisms 😀
Some jerkoff (genders nutured) will do that enough to pad their (how woke am we) numbers for a season, and not give a f to the downstream effect they engender (but, you know, not gender like that naturally)
Have read that twice. Suspect that it be just word salad, no meaning to be discovered.
Why would you shaft someone who displayed goodwill when the cost is minimal? You wouldn’t 1x, but 100x that might make your book just impressive enough to shop around a better job with.
Ergo, all those 100x people feel super pissed at the organization but the arsehole that created the problem for the organization got the benefit and left.
Better?
Yes, ta!
A mate told me that when houso’s are moving, very often the shit in their taxpayer funded house catches fire; by accident of course.
No problem. The taxpayer can buy them all new stuff and put it in the new house for them too.
What about the houso line up for taxies courtesy of the taxpayer.
What about drsmithy saying “there are not enough jobs, dole has to be higher, there are no lifestyle dole bludgers”…..meanwhile jobs go unfilled.
Wokeness is an industry. It has fuck all to do with what’s good for society or the down trodden. It’s all about the elites feels, and feathering their own pockets
Jobs go unfilled? Pay more.
Sure. I’m all for better wages and conditions.
That’s a different problem to “pay more dole, there’s not enough jobs”
Meanwhile Labor, Greens and drsmithy want 400k immigrants a year.
The whole thing is a big joke on Australia.
Put the wages up, make them move for work, no immigrants.
So what you are saying is for every person on the dole there is an unfilled job. As well as those looking for jobs that don’t qualify for various reasons.
A million unfilled jobs.
That is beyond ridiculous.
I’m specifically talking about drsmithy’s defence of lifestyle dole, and how it should be much more generous based on too few jobs (as opposed to being a disincentive to work).
My idea of how a society operates is, everyone contributes. If there’s not enough jobs, maybe some of us work too many hours.
It’s not ridiculous. If there’s too few jobs there’s a problem that needs fixing. Not higher permanent welfare payments.
I want to clarify i have no problem with short term safety nets, but clearly that’s not what’s happening.
There are generations of families who have never worked.
Totes, you should accept that there will always be some freeriders. you can’t kill them, so you might as well feed them.
Like digging holes and filling them in again great depression style?
Ultimately big business needs a certain amount of unemployment to keep wages down, with the added bonus of being able to kick an demonize the unemployed.
Thus there is no desire to fix the problem.
really? where?
People looking for jobs I know complain there aren’t any.
Fruit picking.
If there aren’t jobs, why are we bringing 400k immigrants a year (pre covid, many of them skills shortages)?
To keep the housing bubble inflated
because migrants will live 10 to a room and work for peanuts. The fact is the people bringing in fruit pickers are offering conditions worse than the existing dole, after expenses. This is why the jobs are unfilled. Is that what you are advocating.
I think you blokes are agreeing in the main things. But disagreeing about the fine details.
“because migrants will live 10 to a room and work for peanuts”
Then address that problem. If we allow it in fruit picking, next year we’ll allow it in woolies checkouts, the year after lollipop operators, the year after truck drivers, then plumbers etc etc etc.
It’s the thin end of the wedge that we all put up with little changes at a time….”because it’s just fruit picking”….and…” the islanders need the jobs”….
Before you know it, the world’s cheapest labour is our benchmark in every industry.
WTF are we thinking letting elites do this?
Mcmanus etal should be jailed for their betrayal of Australian workers.
Because short of violence we can’t stop them?
This woke campaign is getting tiresome, post some real articles or stfu.
Woke is the facade Labor and Greens are using to fuck over our entire country’s future.
It’s not tiresome. It is THE ISSUE.
Without woke, how could Labor and Greens support LNP on mass immigration?
THE ISSUE.
Easily, just ignore it instead.
Or gaslight us about how necessary it is for the country. Seems to be working on a lot of the population convinced we need migrants to fill jobs, not just push down wages.
I like that.
The Gaslighting Labor Party.
The Gaslighting MSM
The Gaslighting regulators/LNP/elites/Dr Liz
Bowen….”Labor needs to better articulate the benefits of freer trade, immigration and global engagement”….
BTW, I’m not fking ignoring it. I’m going down swinging.
Hey matey!
If you don’t like what’s being written, would you like to write an article in order to bring the average quality of the material in the site up?
I’m a lurker, I just like to read and then whinge.
Too many woke whinges here, needs some diversity lol
Today is woke whinge Wednesday, Winning.
come back tomorrow perhaps – it’ll be thrash the throbbing thingy Thursday
later in the week we will have Spank the swollen sausage silly straddling the secretaire.
T is in charge of Friday’s, I don’t know what’s happening then.
That’s the spirit 👍
I’ll speak to Peachy about getting your membership fees refunded.
You don’t get what you pay for at MB. But you definitely get what you pay for here.
High praise! 😅
I have never been woke. I hated postmodernism since I was told by one of my history lecturers at university in London in the mid 90s that The Truth was not the goal of history, merely interesting perspectives. I hated the many people I met who were willfully incapable of changing their minds even in the light of incontrovertible facts. I hated feminism since childhood as I listened to my mother spout feminist garbage she heard on the radio while my father went out to work, came home, cooked and cleaned while she complained about being too tired or suffering some allergy. The woke world can go f itself, and so can the rest of us for allowing it to get the point where they are so close to forcing people to say they believe that men and women can swap sexes. Basically I’m misanthropic. So you can all GAGF.
Well if you’re misanthropic you should be in good company here.
I am sesquipedalophobic, sometimes.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia has never scared me.
Every 150 years you get irrationally afraid of bicycles? Really?
Relevant 😂
“The Duke of Sussex will become chief impact officer of Better Up, a San Francisco-based firm specialising in coaching and mental health, the Wall Street Journal reported.”
Never been woke, but feeling we are going back to the Middle Ages. With the working class screwed over by offshoring and the high cost of housing, it is only a matter of time before they can look forward to serfdom. It seems that wokes are basically doing the electronic equivalent of burning people at a stake. Alas we can not debate anything sensibly anymore like where to set the immigration rate post Covid.
